Mutual Separation of Ln and an Using TODGA and DTBA with High Organic Acid Concentrations

Developing the conventional separation method by which minor actinides (MA) such as Am and Cm are separated from lanthanides is important with respect to their recovery isolation high-level radioactive waste (HLW). Owing chemical behavior of trivalent lanthanide actinide ions similar ionic radii, realizing this still challenging. All lanthanides, Am, can be extracted using diglycolamide (DGA) extractants, relatively high An/Ln efficiencies have been obtained diethylenetriamine-N,N’,N”-triacetic acid-N,N”-bis(diethylacetamide) (DTBA). Referring our previous study, where a good MA approximately 95% co-existence 5% Nd in aqueous phase were observed. To improve these results well conditions, under modified conditions adding lactic acid stabilize pH, rates observed follows: 97.1% for average Ln metals 1.59% organic 98.4% 2.95% phase.
